City Councillor Daniel Fontaine has retired his former blog and launched a new podcast to replace it. For the Record with Daniel Fontaine is currently available on Spotify but will be available soon on other platforms in the coming weeks.

“I’m thrilled to launch this new podcast that focuses primarily on New West politics and provides the public with a unique insider perspective on what’s going on at City Hall,” says Fontaine. “I’m personally committed to making City Hall more open and transparent and this podcast is my way of helping that process move forward.”

The first guest to appear on For the Record is Councillor Paul Minhas. During the podcast Minhas and Fontaine have a look back at their first year on Council and discuss some of the key issues that have generated debate and discussion. Some of the topics included the removal of the Royal City moniker, train whistle cessation, the Snow Summit, pay hikes for municipal politicians, the new citizens assembly and much more.

“I was very honoured to be the first guest on Daniel’s new podcast,” says Councillor Paul Minhas. “It was a lot of fun and a great opportunity to talk about a very busy year in civic politics in New Westminster.”

The next guest on the program will be Kathleen Carlsen, trustee candidate for the upcoming School Board by-election. That episode will air by mid-November.
