Building Meaningful Relationships

  • Work to find more opportunities to engage with and better listen to parents and students in our school communities as well as with community stakeholders.
  • Work to nurture existing relationships as well as build, and rebuild, new relationships with community partners who can support the safety and well-being of students in our schools. From the arts community to mental health partners, athletics, immigration services, indigenous partners, business, and community police, there is so much the community can bring to the table to ensure we meet the needs of students and help create a strong and supported sense of community and safety in our schools.
  • Work to create a more formal and transparent relationship between city council and the school board to ensure we can work together to meet the needs of our growing number of students, from finding land to build more schools, expediting school builds, sharing amenities and exploring more ways we can work together to create a stronger sense of connectedness within our community.
  • Work to continue supporting the district’s commitment to truth and reconciliation.
  • Work to engage all families and ensure they have opportunities and access to curriculum and educational resources that reflect and value the cultural diversity of our community.
